Generation Tops Out New Home2 Suites in N. Charleston, SC
Slated to open in late 2011, the North Charleston Home2 Suites is an upper mid-tier, 122-room extended stay hotel with a “hip and humble” approach to extended-stay travel. Designed to feel like a home away from home for budget-conscious business and leisure travelers, it is the first brand Hilton Worldwide has launched in 20 years. The North Charleston hotel will be one of the first ten Home2 hotels open in the nation and is Generation’s second Hilton Hotel development. Generation is an award-winning developer of Hilton hotels. H. Mark Daley, III, President of Generation, stated, "Developing one of the first Home2 Suites hotels in the world is another great example of Generation being on the cutting edge of the extended stay hotel segment. Our team is helping to refine the Home2 prototype even while we execute with world class quality and precision. We expect to break ground on our second Home2 Suites by year’s end." The Generation Companies is a Research Triangle Park, North Carolina-based real estate developer, asset manager and operator of extended-stay hotels in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Texas and Tennessee. After breaking ground just 60 days ago, Generation now moves into up-fitting the interior of the new extended stay hotel, conveniently located near the Charleston International Airport and the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner Aircraft plant.

Airport officials say the arrival of Southeast Airlines and lower fares have contributed to a sharp increase in travel through the Charleston International Airport.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reports more than 250,000 passengers passed through the airport last month, a 32 percent increase over May of 2010.
Southwest began serving Charleston in March. The airline's arrival is credited with helping lower fares on other carriers and encouraging more passengers to fly through Charleston.
